The Global Granular Registry
Smarter Clean Energy Procurement
Unlock the power of hourly and location-specific energy data with the Granular Registry – your global platform for issuing and retiring Granular Certificates (GCs) that track every watt-hour with transparency and precision.
Enhance Existing RECs
The Granular Registry seamlessly integrates with existing REC workflows, so you can start immediately.

Future-Proof Strategy
Prepare for GHG Protocol updates and test battery storage time-shifting capabilities.

THE GRANULAR REGISTRY
The Transition to Granular Accounting is Here.
Leading corporations, utilities, and governments are going beyond annual matching and embracing time and location-based energy procurement strategies. The Granular Registry provides the infrastructure that brings transparency, integrity, and impact to every clean energy claim.

With full traceability and compliance with EnergyTag Standard, the Granular Registry helps you:
-
Meet 24/7 carbon-free electricity (CFE) goals
-
Align procurement with carbon intensity and avoided emissions
-
Support next-gen claims under evolving GHG Protocol's Scope 2 guidance
-
Trade or retire GCs to reflect hourly sustainability impact

Precision
Matching
Issue and manage certificates with hourly timestamps and geolocation metadata, enabling precise alignment with consumption impact.

Trusted REC Conversion
Transfer, import/export, and retire GCs across accounts, marketplaces, and jurisdictions – powered by anti-double-counting controls and audit trails.

Verified Data, Transparent Impact
All GCs are backed by metered generation and third-party verification, ensuring claims are auditable, credible, and emissions-accounting ready.
THE GRANULAR REGISTRY
The Benefits
Independent Verification & Credibility
Reduce dependence on internal analytics to prevent greenwashing and ensure credible clean energy claims.
Interoperability &
Market Access
By supporting integrations with trading platforms, the registry enables GC transactions and open access to premium pricing opportunities.
Time-Based Tracking for
24/7 CFE Goals
Unlike portfolio management software, a registry issues actual GCs enhances a corporation's ability to match energy consumption with hourly CFE production.
Standardized &
Auditable Tracking

Making energy and emissions tracking consistent and comparable across the globe
Automation &
Scalability

The registry automates the issuance and retirement of certificates scaling easily as corporations expand their clean energy procurement across multiple markets.
Alignment with Impact Accounting

Ensures compliance with GHG Protocol 's Project Accounting Standard, enabling carbon impact procurement strategies.
THE GRANULAR REGISTRY
The Process
1
PROJECT REGISTRATION & DATA SUBMISSION
The project operator or offtaker submits project details, including location, capacity, and settlement quality meter data. REC status is verified in the local REC registry.
2
ISSUE GRANULAR CERTIFICATES
The project’s generation is matched with the issued RECs, and hourly timestamps are assigned according to the EnergyTag Standard and published GRF methodology.
3
OPTIONAL IMPACT ASSIGNMENT
According to the GHG Protocol's Project Accounting Standard, the issued GCs are matched hourly with Long Run Marginal Emissions Rates to determine carbon impact.
4
VERIFICATION & MARKET READINESS
Data is validated to ensure accuracy before GCs are made available for transfer or retirement.
5
TRANSFER, RETIREMENT, & CLAIMS
Users transfer, or retire GCs, enabling them to make verified emissions reduction claims.
